Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday condemned the “sickening atrocity perpetrated by a misguided and cowardly group of terrorists” who attacked innocent persons in the London Bridge area on Saturday night.
A statement signed and released in Abuja by his Media Aide, Laolu Akande said Nigeria stands with the government and people of the United Kingdom “and extend our condolences to the families of the victims”
“The Acting President notes that the latest attack in the U.K. reinforces the need for the global community to act with greater vigour to overcome the extremist ideologies which underpin terrorism”.
7 people were reportedly killed and over 40 people injured on Saturday following a terror attack on London bridge. A van was reported to have ran into pedestrians, in the nearby Borough district on the south side of the crossing, followed by a subsequent stabbing rampage.
The attack came barely two weeks after atleast 22 people were killed in a suspected suicide bombing attack at a pop concert in the British city of Manchester .
