Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (DEMSMA) on Sunday said it disbursed over N784 million to 5, 911 beneficiaries in the last two years.
Mrs Shimite Bello, Executive Secretary of DEMSMA, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba that the fund was distributed to beneficiaries through cooperative societies.
Bello said the beneficiaries included petty traders, farmers, owners of cottage industries, including 400 women and youths, who participated in various skills acquisition programmes of the state government.
According to her, the beneficiaries had proven track records and understanding of how to create wealth for themselves.
She advised youths in the state to acquire skills that would enable them to benefit from the available opportunities to enable them become self-reliant rather. (NAN)
