SystemSpecs’ investment partnership with Lagos deepens human capacity
SystemSpecs Limited a leading software solution provider says its investment partnership with the Lagos State government through the Educate Lagos initiative would deepen youth empowerment especially in the education sector.
Aderemi Atanda, executive director, System Spec Limited while speaking at the launch of the Educate Lagos project said that by virtue of being a software solution provider, the company is in the knowledge business.
Atanda disclosed that partnering with Lagos State government is a critical aspect of investment to build human capacity which would in the long term ensure that Nigerian graduate are empowered to be able to deliver what they have to deliver right here in the country without leaving the shores of Nigeria.
According to him, “It is firmly established that the future of any economy is based on knowledge economy and so we see that as part of our investment in building capacity that can take Nigeria to that desired destination where the knowledge economy reigns”.
Obafemi Bank-Olemoh, Special Adviser to the governor on Education, said the project which is making available wide academic and historical contents available to students and non-students alike available online, is aimed at democratising education in the state.
Bank-Olemoh observed that the state in partnership with private investors has improved on the state’s education sector with the renovation and equipping of many libraries, employment of more teachers, renovation of school structure, among others.
Earlier in his address Akinwumi Ambode, governor of Lagos State said the launch of the digital library project was in realisation of the efforts to build a globally competitive economy and also achieve the goal of making the state the next technology hub in Africa.
The governor who was represented by Tunji Bello, Secretary to the State Government, disclosed that the available resources on the digital library to includes about 2,000 study aids on core subjects from primary to secondary school curriculum, 1,600 tutorials, podcast, online forum, test resource, among others.
