Ruling on an application filed by the former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, to stay proceedings in the matter brought against him before Justice Okon Abang, of an Abuja Federal High Court has been stalled.
The trial court had informed parties in the suit at the resumption of the matter, that it had been preoccupied with workload from the Lagos, Asaba and Abuja divisions which it sits at, upon his recent transfer to the Asaba division of the court.
It will be recalled that Metuh who is standing trial in a seven Count charge alongside his company, Destra Investments Limited, over N400m fraud allegedly committed at the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), filed and moved its application for stay of further proceedings on the matter pending the decision of the Supreme Court on the appeal filed challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal that affirmed the ruling of the trial court on ‘No Case Submission’.
The move was premised on a ruling of the trial court, that failed to grant his request to call the former NSA, Sambo Dasuki as his defence witness.
Ruling on the application was subsequently adjourned to June 19, 2017.
