Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), at an address of newsmen earlier this week by Saidu Mohammed, chief operating officer, mentioned that so far the Corporation had begun to see performance in the settlement Taleveras’ obligations with the NNPC.
Mohammed said the NNPC would continue to work hard to ensure that all outstanding matters as it related to all companies for various activities, would be pursued and closed out.
Aliyu Jimeta, acting chief executive officer of Taleveras Oil and Gas Services Limited, when contacted yesterday in Abuja, said, “As a responsible company and one that has over the years made positive contributions to the Nigeria economy, Taleveras would do everything within its powers to promptly ensure its associated units close out on all outstanding issues with the NNPC, as the company is keen to maintain its long standing relationship with the NNPC spanning close to 20 years.
“We have commenced the settlement of all outstanding matters with NNPC, and have demonstrated this by our actions. We have and are still contributing positively to Nigeria’s economy in various ways. We are a responsible corporate organisation and intend to keep to all our commitments.”
Maikanti Baru, NNPC group managing director, while revealing NNPC’s strategies to close on this lingering issue, stated in an earlier press conference a few weeks ago that: “In the case of Taleveras, they have agreed to make a tranche payment of $17 million,” and went further to commend Taleveras for its prompt settlement of its obligations.
“The recovery exercise is a product of ongoing extensive reconciliation process with the companies involved namely: Aiteo Energy Resource Limited, Ontario Oil and Gas Limited and Taleveras. We have engaged them and positively too,” Baru had said.
