Desirous to improve the educational outcome of the Nigerian child through quality teaching, Meadow Hall Foundation is set to reward outstanding teachers at the Inspirational Educator Awards (INSEA), 2017 edition.
The INSEA is a merit-based award organised by Meadow Hall Foundation (MHF), a subsidiary of Meadow Hall Group, aimed at elevating the teaching profession and motivating school teachers and educational leaders to continue to strive for excellence in their profession. The Award is split into two categories; The Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award and the Inspirational Head Teacher of the Year Award.
The Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award is an annual award aimed at honouring teachers dedicated to imparting life-long learning in their students. This prestigious award recognises, rewards, and promotes excellence in the teaching profession. A cash award of ₦1,000,000.00 will be given to a resourceful, caring and innovative teacher who has made an inspirational impact on his or her students and community.
The Inspirational Head Teacher of the Year Award is an annual award aimed at honouring head teachers (head-teachers/headmasters/ headmistresses/principals) dedicated to achieving optimal school effectiveness. This prestigious award recognises the importance school leaders have on our educational system. A cash award of ₦2,000,000.00 will be given to a hardworking and self-sacrificing school leader.
Participation is completely free and nominations close on the 10th of April 2017. A panel of judges will select the final winners based on pre-defined criteria. After which, the winners will be rewarded with cash awards on award night at an Invitation Only ceremony in Victoria Island slated for Sunday, 23rd April 2017.

Meadow Hall Foundation is a non-profit organisation borne out of a need to improve the educational outcomes of the Nigerian child.

Our mission is to equip Nigerian students for the 21st century by enhancing teaching quality, changing mindsets about teaching, and advocating for the teaching profession. Some of the Foundations initiatives include: Graduate Teacher Trainee Programme (GTTP), which is a 3-month teacher training and development initiative aimed at young graduates who are passionate about the teaching profession regardless of their first academic discipline. Over 100 professional teachers have emerged from this programme. The GTTP’s absorption rate into the education sector is over 90 percent.
Other initiatives are, School Adoption Programme, which focuses on improving the quality of education in neighbourhood public schools by providing support to public school teachers and students. “The pilot school under our School Adoption Programme is Ilasan Primary School, off Lekki-Epe Expressway, Jakande, Lagos. We have implemented various developmental initiatives at the school including free teacher training and donation of teaching and learning aids, as well as the building of a fence to secure the teaching and learning environment” said Adewoye.
She added “We also conduct Free Teacher Professional Development Programme which is an annual training programme organized for teachers of public and low-cost private schools. This programme is aimed at improving 21st century teaching skills.”
Upcoming initiatives proposed to commence in 2017 include the Mentoring Programme and the Teachers Resource Centres and the Education Convention.
The Mentoring Programme aims to prepare people to achieve their highest potential. It comprises of conferences and mentoring sessions for educators and children, and counseling for children only.
The Teachers Resource Centres, which is aimed at positively impacting the educational outcomes of educators in poor communities through professional development workshops and access to 21st Century educational materials.
