How Osinbajo brightened manufacturers’ hope in Abia
Yemi Osinbajo, acting president, who was recently in Aba, the commercial hub centre of Nigeria for the launch of the maiden edition of the Nationwide Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), did not leave without words of hope from the Federal Government.
Osinbajo, who addressed core business people at Aba Sports Club Golf Course, Abia State, promised that the Federal Government would encourage manufacturers of the Made-in-Aba products and provide them with equipment needed for their business so that they would become major competitors world-over.
The acting president expressed satisfaction at the quality of products made in Aba, saying that Nigeria should embrace locally-made products if the country is to come out of the economic quagmire. He appreciated the efforts of the artisans in promoting Nigeria-made products, urging them not to relent in their efforts to promote locally made products.
Earlier, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, in his address, underscored the can-do and resilient spirit of the Aba man, stressing that, it is the resilient and hardworking spirit of the Aba-based artisans that must have informed the Federal Government decision of selecting Aba as pilot city for the MSME-Clinic.
Ikpeazu maintained that if Aba manufacturers receive more encouragement, its glory as the commercial nerve centre of the nation would be restored. He called for continuous support from all and sundry as well as charged Abians to take NAFDAC, Standard Organisation of Nigeria, security agencies and other relevant organisations as partners in the part of making Abia great.
The move by the state government under Governor Ikpeazu to attract Federal Government’s attention is in fulfillment of his campaign promises to showcase the rich talents of the state to the world and to ensure that the dream for industrialisation is realised.
Speaking with BDSUNDAY, Chief Henry Ikoh, Abia State commissioner for Industry, Science and Technology, said the current administration in the state is out to collaborate with the Federal Government for the overall development of Abia.
