Nigeria’s days of respite from pipeline attacks might just be over with the militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) warning the army and oil firms of an imminent attack.
Aldo Agbalaja, the spokesman of (NDGJM) revealed Monday that the recently launched Operation Crocodile Tears by the militant group would be heightened with a second phase imminent – ‘Operation Hammurabi Code’.
The Nigeria army which is presently confronted on two fronts by internal insurgency maintains an unfazed disposition. In the South, oil militants continue to splinter and express frustration with negotiation efforts by the army authorities. Similarly, the same can be said for the Northern where the infamous Boko Haram sect has experienced a split into two factions premised on the Isis announcement instating Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the new leader.
It is noteworthy that in the course of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly, the UK and United States pledged funds to combat Boko Haram primarily while militancy in the South received no attention.
