In fulfillment of its threat to continue to decimate Nigeria’s oil production capability, a new militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, has claimed responsibility for the destruction of the Afiesere- Iwhrenene major delivery line in Ughelli North, leading to the UPS/UQCC operated by NPDC/SHORELINES.
The militant group which claimed that the attack took place in the early hours of September 13 said that the attack was a response to the Federal Government’s operation in the Niger Delta region.
“The Niger Delta is not a conquered territory and our people have never succumbed to intimidation before, rather we match force with the oppressor’s brutality.
“The Nigerian government should already know that the people of this part are not fools, who will not be able to see when they are being treated with disdain, spokes person of the group, Aldo Agbalaja said.
This new wave of attacks in the region is peculiar because it is taking place in areas which were traditionally not in the hotbed of militancy.
