For allegedly murdering a pastor’s wife (38) , the authorities of Zone ‘5’ police headquarters in Benin-City have arrested four senior pastors of a Pentecostal church.
BusinessDay reports that the husband of the murdered woman simply identified as Faith Amayo was incidentally one of the arrested pastor. The woman was said to have been killed in Uromi town, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East local government area of Edo state. The deceased woman’s husband Kingsley Amayo was arrested along other three senior pastors of the church for the roles they allegedly played in the questionable circumstances surrounding the death of the woman.
Fidelis Evbuomwan, an elder brother of the deceased woman disclosed that his deceased sister who was yet to have a child was properly married to her pastor husband, Kingsley Amayo in 2011. He stated that his bereaved family had to instruct their lawyer to initiate a petition when the husband of their sister gave conflicting accounts of how his wife died in an accident he was also involved. According to him, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 Pastor Kingsley Amayo had through his elder brother one Chief Iso who informed the family that their daughter Mrs. Faith Amayo had died in a motor accident at Ujogba while her husband Pastor Kingsley Amayo was driving her to Benin City.
Evbuomwan however appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure that justice prevail as their findings have revealed that no case of an accident was neither recorded at Ujogba nor reported at the Ekpoma Police Division in charge of the area on the fateful day. He urged the police to among others unravel where the accident occurred, the whereabouts of the other vehicle alleged to have had a head-on collision with the late sister’s Sienna vehicle, who rescued the victims to hospital and the location of the hospital.
A source at the church state headquarters in Benin City yesterday confirmed the alleged arrest of the pastors. “l am skeletally aware of the arrest but only the Lagos head office can comment on it”, he said.
In another development, an unknown gunmen were reported to have killed the wife of the pastor of House of Testimony along Idumebo road in Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan West local government area. The deceased identified as Obehi Irabor was until her gruesome murder a pastor of the same church. She is said to have been killed at her residence in Ihumudu quarters in the presence of her husband, Ose Irabor at about 11:00pm.
