Buhari appoints Babandede, Ja’afaru, CGs of Immigration, Prisons
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of Mohammed Babandede and Ahmed Ja’afaru, as the Controllers-General (CGs) of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Prisons Service, respectively.
The disclosure was made in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung.
Until his appointment, Ja’afaru, who replaced Dr. Peter Ekpendu, was an Assistant Controller General (ACG) of the NPS at the headquarters. His appointment took effect from May 17, 2016.
According to the statement, the new CG of NIS, Babandede was, until his appointment a Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters. He replaces Mr Martin Kure Abeshi.
The appointment of Babandede took effect from May 15, 2016.
