Petroleum minister to open PETAN Pavilion at OTC

Minister of state for petroleum, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, is billed to declare open the Nigerian pavilion, being coordinated by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) scheduled to take place between May 2 and 5, 2016, at Houston Texas, USA.

The PETAN also plans to coordinate delegates and the over 2,500 exhibiting companies attending the conference.

This avenue provides an excellent opportunity for positive portrayal and promotion of the great potentials of Nigeria and the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry. Several indigenous Nigerian companies, leading international and oil service companies (IOCs), as well as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will be part of a contingent to underscore the dynamism and potential of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Other dignitaries that would grace the occasion are Bayo Ojulari, managing director of Shell Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, Ademola Adeyemi-Bero of First E and P, and Austin Avuru, managing director of Seplat. The executive secretaries of the Petroleum Development Fund (PTDF) and Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB) are also to grace the occasion.

The OTC has evolved into a yearly gathering of policy makers, operators, manufacturers, business executives, entrepreneurs and visitors from around the world.

According to Nik Odinuwe, publicity secretary of the association, the theme of the conference for this year: “The Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry: Current Realities, Hidden Opportunities.”

The decision makers that would speak at the conference would speak on important and topical issue, which impact the local industry. He said participation of indigenous firms at the conference and exhibition would enable them to secure genuine technical partners needed to play active role in the implementation of Nigerian Content Act.

“Participation in an international conference like OTC is the best form of exposure for indigenous companies willing to play active role in the global international oil and gas industry,” he said.
