Vitafoam Nigeria plc has attributed its diversification of products to enhancement of shareholder value and desire to promote healthy living.
Taiwo Adeniyi, Group Managing Director, Vitafoam Nigeria plc who spoke at the 2016 World Sleep Day organized by Vitafoam in Lagos said that one of the major challenges of the on-going inclement operating environment to the manufacturers was the need to introduce innovative products that could boost shareholder value and promote the concept of healthy living.
These, according to him are some of the attributes of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. Adeniyi explained the value added by the company’s spring mattress thus:
“Our spring mattress is posturpedic, orthopedic and therapeutic, this mattress helps to support your body in a neutral position, one in which your spine has a nice curvature while your buttocks, heels, shoulders and head are supported in proper alignment.
“We are confident that good sleep is an achievable dream with Vitafoam as we have gone beyond mattress to offer our target audiences other beddings products like bed frame, bed topper, bed sheets, duvet and various types of pillows (throw pillows, Music pillows and memory pillows etc) that will ensure you achieve good sleep,” he said.
Adeniyi stated that Vitafoam had transcended beyond sleep business to the living business as the company now manufactures semi rigid and rigid polyurethane foam products including furniture, bed and beddings, foot wears, insulated panels and molded products that make one experience total comfort.
Speaking on the importance of adequate and quality, sleep on regular basis, the guest speaker and Chief Medical Director, Caribbean Health Limited, Patrick Ijewere explained that an adult requires an average of six to eight hours sleep everyday while younger ones should sleep longer.
Ijewere argued that people often misconstrue the concept of sleep as they assume that they regard the time they wake up as the beginning of the day rather than when they sleep.
“Our company’s motto is health is by choice. Every animal on earth has circle of sleep. But the concept of sleep is underestimated. Your day starts when you sleep. The quality of your sleep determines who you are the following day. If your sleep is good, you are a better person.
“Sleep deprivation can lead to many complications hence everyone should endeavor to have normal sleep irrespective of one’s nature of work. If work pressure is unavoidable, one must appreciate this and devise means of compensation for quality sleep. Ideal amount of hours to sleep is six to eight hours for adult and above that for younger ones”, said Ijewere.
Toye Adegboye, Chief Executive Officer, Badiays Investment Limited, Ilupeju Vitafoam Comfort Center commended Vitafoam for its foresight in production of innovative materials for enhanced healthy living and urged the company to ensure that concerns of the customers are addressed regularly in order to produce products that meet customers’ need.
Adeniyi noted that World Sleep Day is a global recognition of imperative of sleep for healthy living. The day is celebrated to create enlightenment on the need to ensure adherence to the essence of sleep and the use of relevant sleep materials that address peculiar needs of individuals.
According to him, Vitafoam has always put reward to the shareholders at the front burner as they are the life wire of corporate survival. He maintained that the company’s strategic plan had always put the stakeholders at the Centre as their trust in the company’s management cannot be underrated. He assured the shareholders that despite the tough operating environment, Vitafoam would continue to remain profitable.
Adeniyi stated that as part of Vitafoam’s strategic plan, the company had six subsidiaries whereby each produces distinct products with that serve as synergy for one another.
He explained that the on-going inclement operating environment had forced the company’s Board and Management to embark on cost saving initiative in order to sustain the company’s competitive edge.
“Innovation and new products development will be the key drivers of our corporate strategy. We shall stay committed to the company’s brand reposition of “much more than mattress” by broadening the scope of our products offerings across the Vitafoam group,” said Adeniyi
By the company’s profile, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc is a leading manufacturer of flexible reconstituted and rigid foam products. It has the largest foam manufacturing and distribution network which facilitates just in time delivery of finished products throughout West African Sub region.
