Nosak Group, an indigenous conglomerate recently held its 2016 business retreat in Lagos. The theme for the retreat was “Turn and Accellerate: From Stability to Leadership”. The retreat included over 30 Managers and Department Heads from across Nigeria and was facilitated by Vital Solutions Consult Incorporated; a leading organizational diagnostics and solutions provider.
Speaking at the forum, Sam Ohuabunwa (OFR), founder of SOFEE Consult led the retreat with a session on ‘Corporate and Institutional leadership’. Ohuabunwa, also a former chairman/CEO of Pfizer West Africa, with over 33 years of cognate corporate and organizational experience, of which, 18 years stated in his speech that the major function of an institutional or corporate leader is “the promotion and protection of values”. Values are essential for business growth because it ensures that the consumer is well protected in terms of genuineness of the product he is buying. Therefore, total quality management principle must be adhered to at all times in the production lines.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Toni Ogunbor, the Chairman of Nosak Group, spoke on ‘The state of the company and Trends in the Nigerian Economy’. He acknowledged the newest venture of the Group; Nosak Farm Produce Limited, a premier manufacturing company that provides over 300 direct and indirect jobs, which also ranks as one of the top vegetable oil refiners in the country. The company also takes CSR activities seriously as it is part of the company’s commitment to being a responsible business in practice and theory which serves as a driving force in the attainment of corporate goals and objectives that will ensure that the people, the community and the environment are well taken care of.
Dr. Ogunbor also informed the participants about the expansion project of Nosak Farm Produce Limited. In his words, ‘with a current capacity of 200 tonnes per day and a farm size of approximately 800 hectares, the company is set to acquire an additional 20,000 hectares in Edo state for backward integration and further increase its refining capacity in 2016’. He further stated that this measure is aimed at creating additional jobs and export opportunities for the country, of which the Federal Government has encouraged in recent times.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Toni Ogunbor commended both the organizers and participants of the retreat and stated that it was an outstanding retreat and the results of the retreat will immensely help to enhance staff performance and position the company for continuous growth and leadership in the business environment in Nigeria and West Africa.
