Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar has restated the determination of his administration to work closely with any development partner for the well being of people of Jigawa state.
The Governor made this disclosure, while receiving a delegation from United Nation International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) who visited him in his office.
He said the state government is aware of the dangers faced by children in the areas of nutrition and is doing everything possible to address the trend.
“It is one of the priorities of our administration to give the health sector the attention it deserves due to its importance to our people”
“We have the political will to partner with you and any organization with the same vision to our people so that we can achieve the much needed development for our state” Governor Badaru stated.
The governor noted that the state government has the political will to implement all health policies aimed at improving the health of its citizens and promised to partner with UNICEF in an effort to save the lives of women and children in the state.
He added that the health sector is being reformed with a view of re-strategizing to address the challenges in the health sector.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation, Arjen De-wagt said they were at the governor’s office to seek collaboration with the state government to address malnutrition among children in the state.
While lamenting the growing number of malnutrition among children in the state, he noted that unless urgent measures are taken to save the situation, a number of children might lose their lives.
He commended the state government for the cordial relationship existing with UNICEF especially on joint funded programmes in the state.
