The Osun State Government will on Thursday May 9, 2013 launch the distribution of customised computer tablets tagged, “Opon-Imo” to students of S.S.1 to S.S.3 in Public Secondary Schools in the State
Built to improve learning among secondary school students in the state and also to further prepare them for external and internal examinations, the tablets which are designed in the form of an iPad would be distributed to the students’ free-of-charge.
Titi Laoye-Tomori, deputy Governor, while speaking on the state’s government readiness to launch the initiative which she described as a milestone in the history of education development and enhanced learning in the country, said the present administration led by the governor is determined towards ensuring that students of the State of Osun are effectively prepared to meet up with the standards of students in advanced countries of the world in terms of learning and research.

The deputy governor revealed that tablets are already installed with relevant soft wares of all the subjects being offered in secondary schools with different text books and lesson notes as well as past questions and answers on the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), National Examination Council Examination (NECO), as well as the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which will help facilitate the students preparedness for these examination.
“The launch of the computer tablets which will be distributed free of charge to Senior Secondary School Students across the various public secondary schools in the state is a further attestation to the findings of the Senate Committee on Education which recently described the education policy of the government of Aregbesola as the best in the country”, she added.
