National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned two persons before Justice Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja over illicit drug trafficking.
One Ogbu Oliver, who was arrested sometime in June 2015 at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja, during inward clearance aboard a Kenyan Airline flight to Abuja, with 1.018 kilogrammes of heroin pleaded guilty to the charge when read to him.
Having taken his plea, the court adjourned the matter to January 20, 2016 for review of facts while the accused is to be remanded in Kuje Prisons.
Similarly, the NDLEA also arraigned Ifeagwu Osita before the court, having been arrested at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport Abuja, during inward clearance aboard an Emirate Airline, from Dubai to Abuja.
Osita, who was caught with 4.7 kilogrammes of cocaine, having pleaded guilty to the charge against him, however, urged the court to make an order to allow him continue his medical examination over a viral disease he contracted.
In his ruling, the court adjourned the matter to February 23, 2016, and while he is to be remanded at the Kuje Prisons, the prison official should take the accused to the National Hospital in Abuja, for adequate medical treatment.
The offences are contrary to and punishable under Section 11(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act.
