In the spirit of gratitude to its numerous customers, telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria in this season of love, sharing and appreciation recently thrilled its high net worth individuals (HNI) with an unforgettable night of beautiful medley and scintillating voices from top Nigerian artistes at the Eko Hotels and Suites. The event tagged ‘A Night with MTN’ came shortly after the ICT Company sponsored the biggest event of the year; the 9th edition of corporate elite night.
According to front-line producer and RnB sensation, BankyW who also stole the centre stage as the host of the event said the night was set aside to appreciate the high net worth individuals of the company by thrilling them to beautiful musical performances from top Nigerian artistes and as well as MTN ambassadors present at the event.
‘’ I feel so honoured to stand before these great men and women as your host for today’s event, and also thank the MTN management for putting up an event of this magnitude appreciating its loyal customers for their immeasurable support all through the year’’
Also speaking in the same vein is member board of directors; Gbenga Oyebode promised an improved service in the coming year. This he said will usher in a loyalty programme that seeks to reward its esteemed customers .’’ We are cognisant of the present situation of the network, and the challenges faced by the network. The night welcomed distinguished individuals from all works as they were entertained with beautiful rhymes and vibes from notable Nigerian artistes such as Cobhams Asuquo, TimiDakolo, Mo’Cheddah, delectable Immaculate of the MTN Project Fame, and a stage performance from the famous queen of stage theatre, Bolanle Austen Peters of Terra Kulture.
In his usual style of playing the tunes to the rhythm, the ace song writer and producer, Cobhams Asuquo performed a medley of his famous track ‘Ordinary People’as well as a duet of ‘Destinambari’ with gorgeous looking Mo’Cheddah. The baritone vocalist, Timi Dakolo triggered euphoria with his hit track ‘IyawoMi’alongside beautiful rendition of ‘Everything I do’ by Brian Adams and medley from Hero Smith ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a thing’
Guests that graced the occasion include; Tokunboh Afikuyomi, ex- super eagle skipper; Austin Jay JayOkocha and wife; Nkechi, Davido, Prince Gabriel Iyadwua, Deputy Comptroller of Custom; Emmanuel Chukwuemeke and wife Chiyelu, Lusanda Jiya, and Thobi Duma of South African airways, President Society of Women in Africa; Funmi Doherty, Ambassador Ubong Kings and top MTN officials.
It was also a night of classical music as Vocal Stream, stormed the stage to entertain the guests with an opera rendition of ‘you raise me up’ by Ruben Studdard. Shortly after this was a beautiful stage performance of dance and drama depicting the Nigeria history by Terra culture called ‘Go Slow’. Go Slow, told the tales of Nigeria post independent era, reflecting on all the important activities that happened during the time. The uniqueness of the performance is how the characters where able to deliver, appealing and entertaining the guests who were actually glued to each of the scene from the dance and drama.
The struggle for democracy in Nigeria was well orchestrated with a beautiful rendition of Zombie a song by the late afro beat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The production also revealed the beautiful essence of Nigeria culture, dance and the typical lifestyle of the average Lagosian during the pre and post-independence era in the commercial nerve of the country, hence the title of the performance ‘Go Slow’.
Commenting on the event, Gbenga Oyebode said the event was planned to dine and wine with stakeholders by treating them to a night of musical performances from top Nigerian artistes at the Eko Hotels and Suites.
‘’ As you know, without these wonderful people it will be almost in possible to remain in business, most especially during this trying time. And so we planned this event as a way of saying thank you to those that have kept us in business all through the years regardless of the current challenges’’ he said.
It is significant the event came at this time of celebration when organizations and different people celebrate Xmas and the end of the year. This could be a small or large gathering of people with a similar reason for merriment.
