Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers State, has accused his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, of cancelling the employment of 10,000 youths into the State Civil Service.
Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) made the accusation on Wednesday during a ‘Thank you’ visit to his supporters in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State.
The FCT minister blamed the lack of continuity for the seeming poor state of development in the State, adding that the employment programme was designed to create job opportunities for youths in Rivers State.

“I employed Rivers State youths, 10,000. The person we handed over power, instead of allowing the 10,000 youths, he cancelled that job. I handed over, see where I stopped, please, make sure you (Fubara) continue with this programme that would make our State one of the respected States in this country”, he said.
Wike said he did not make a mistake in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s election in 2023, stressing that he would support the President’s second-term bid in 2027.
He said Rivers State had fared better during President Tinibu’s Administration, stressing that whatever mistake was made regarding the Governorship of the State would be corrected in 2027.
“I didn’t make mistakes, and will never make mistakes in continuing to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I challenge those who were governors in this State, under (President Olusegun) Obasanjo, under (President Goodluck) Jonathan, and then minister under (President Muhammadu) Buhari, let them come and read out what they achieved during that period.

“And I read out what we have achieved now as a minister. It is unprecedented, unprecedented in the history of this country,” Wike said, suggesting that he had attracted more Federal projects to the State since he was appointed minister.
Chibudom Nwuche, Chairman of the South South Development Commission, stressed the importance of gratitude, adding that the people of Ahoada East would continue to support the FCT minister, who is also their in-law.
