The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for commission as officers in specialised corps of the service.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the Army said the DSSC programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications required by the Nigerian Army.

According to the statement, successful candidates will be commissioned as officers and deployed into specialised units where their professional expertise will contribute to national defence, internal security operations and other military engagements across the country.
The Army listed the corps currently open for the DSSC intake to include the Nigerian Army Engineers (NAE), Nigerian Army Signals (NAS), Nigerian Army Medical Corps (NAMC), Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME) and the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC).
It stressed that the application process is free of charge and will be conducted strictly online.
The recruitment portal is scheduled to open on January 7, 2026, and will close on February 4, 2026.
Prospective applicants were advised to submit their applications early and ensure that all required information is accurately completed to avoid disqualification.

The Army added that comprehensive details on eligibility criteria, application guidelines and other requirements are available on its official recruitment website at recruitment.army.mil.ng.
