Local government workers in Osun State on Monday resumed duties across council secretariats after an 11-month strike that paralysed grassroots administration in the state.
The workers, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), had withdrawn their services on February 16, 2025, following disputes over the control of Local Government Councils.
Security operatives were on ground to maintain order and ensure a smooth resumption.

In Osogbo Local Government, Rasak Latona, Vice Chairman, described the resumption as peaceful and well-coordinated, confirming that over 300 workers returned to work.
He urged staff to address pending duties and restore service delivery to communities after months of inactivity.
Kehinde Ogungbangbe, Osun State President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), confirmed that members resumed work across the State and appealed for calm, stressing the need to avoid any situation that could disrupt peace at the Councils.
He however alleged that Police operative was bias because they allowed the APC council chairmen into the council contrary to their earlier warning that they would not tolerate the presence of any.
He said “To my utmost dismay today I discovered that it was the Police that were opening the gate for the politicians to enter the local government. The control crisis still linger and the case is in court, so politicians ought to stay away from the LGAs.”
