…urges indigenes to imbibe spirit of giving, prayers for unity
Mathew Kolawole, former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives aspirant in the forthcoming 2027 election, has empowered 500 widows in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency.
Speaking during the empowerment programme in Kabba, which he initiated 15 years ago, said he enjoys an organic grassroots following, pointing out his own efforts, like paying of school fees, providing jobs for his people and paying medical bills, saying it has made him the best to represent the constituency come 2027.
He also criticised and described the current representative of Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency as a “misplaced priority”.
The event empowered 500 widows with rice, beans, garri, clothing, and N10,000, Kolawole said If elected, he’ll focus more on providing palliatives, supporting vulnerable people, and addressing out -of-school children.
“If given the opportunity to serve in the House of Representatives, I will focus on providing palliative care to the people through legislation. My focus beyond attracting infrastructure will be to provide platforms and support to vulnerable people, who are less privileged.
“My focus is also on out -of-school children by making legislation, providing employment for our teeming unemployed youths,” he said.
He began a skill acquisition programme two years ago, through a partnership with NDE, expressed appreciation that the graduates of the scheme are now Masters today and can feed themselves and their families.
He mentioned that the current lawmaker, Idris Salman hasn’t met with the people’s yearning and aspirations, lamented that at a season when politicians with the heart of the people are at home with their people for Christmas, “he has instead travelled abroad, enjoying himself and watching football matches,” while his people suffer.
He vowed to win the APC ticket and defeat the current lawmaker, who he said, “got the mandate on a platter of gold”.
Kolawole praised President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s recent efforts against insecurity and Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo’s work in making Kogi State safe, expressed optimism that soon Nigeria would come out of the insecurity challenge.
