The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied reports claiming it has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday signed by Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman.
The commission described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that no timetable or schedule has been issued for the 2027 polls.
INEC said it operates strictly within the law, citing Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which requires the commission to publish a notice of election not later than 360 days before the date fixed for a general election.
According to the commission, any timetable released outside this legal window could not have emanated from INEC.
The commission assured Nigerians that the official timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election would be released in due course.
It said this would be done in full compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2022.

INEC added that when the timetable is ready, it will be communicated through its official and verified channels.
The commission urged the public and the media to disregard the fake reports and rely solely on information from INEC’s official platforms.
