Members of the National Forum of Former Legislators in Nigeria have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term as Nigeria President, also throwing their support behind Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate for the 2027 Governorship race in Kano State.
The endorsement was announced during a courtesy visit to Barau at the National Assembly in Abuja by the Forum’s Leadershi, led by its National Coordinator, Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, a statement issued by Barau Media Team, noted that the Forum, which comprises former legislators from the Federal, State and Local Government levels.

The Forum said its decision to back President Tinubu was informed by the need to allow him complete the developmental programmes and reforms initiated by his Administration over the past 30 months.
The visit underscored growing political alignments ahead of the 2027 General Elections, particularly in Kano State and at the national level.
“We have come together as right-minded individuals who believe in this administration and have already established our position as a parliamentary support group for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We have also aligned with our Kano State chapter, which has endorsed Senator Barau for the governorship race in Kano State.
“On behalf of the Forum’s convener, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, we are inviting Senator Barau to attend the forthcoming National Summit on National Unity and Nation Building as a Special Guest of Honour. The summit is scheduled for January 24, 2026”, Igbokwe stated.
Responding, Barau commended the Forum for organising itself into a formal body of former parliamentarians, describing the initiative as timely and necessary.
“This is a time when people who have served in the National and State Assemblies need to come closer to the government and support it.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard to return our country to the path of prosperity, and he requires the support of all Nigerians to achieve this goal”, Barau said.
