Indomie Nigeria has moved to calm public concerns following widespread online reports linking its noodles to a safety alert issued by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), insisting that the affected product is not manufactured, sold, or registered in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the company described the reports as misinformation with the potential to mislead consumers and damage confidence in its locally produced products.
Indomie Nigeria clarified that the NAFDAC alert being circulated relates to a product recall in France and has no connection to Indomie noodles produced by Dufil Prima Foods in Nigeria.
“The product referenced in the NAFDAC alert is not manufactured, imported, distributed, or sold in Nigeria. Indomie Nigeria does not produce or market any noodle variant called Vegetable Flavour, and no such product exists within our portfolio,” the company said.

According to the company, all Indomie noodles available in the Nigerian market are produced locally under strict quality control processes and in full compliance with NAFDAC regulations. It added that images of the allegedly affected product circulating online show packaging and labelling that are clearly inconsistent with Indomie Nigeria’s approved branding standards.
The clarification follows a notice by NAFDAC on the recall of “Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour” by French authorities, Rappel Conso, in August 2025. The recall was initiated due to the presence of undeclared allergens, milk and eggs, which could pose health risks to people with allergies or intolerances.
NAFDAC, in its own statement signed by Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, director-general, emphasised that the recalled product does not originate from Nigeria and is not registered for sale in the country. The agency explained that the alert was issued purely as a precautionary measure to safeguard the Nigerian public.
“The Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour in question is not registered with NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria. Noodles are also listed on the Federal Government’s Import Prohibition List, meaning their importation into the country is not allowed. This significantly reduces the likelihood of the affected product entering the Nigerian market,” the agency said.
NAFDAC disclosed that it has nonetheless heightened surveillance across all zones and states as part of proactive regulatory action. Zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to monitor markets and “mop up” the product if found, while the Ports Inspection Directorate has been placed on alert to guard against illegal importation.
The agency further reassured Nigerians that all noodle brands approved for sale in the country, including Indomie, are manufactured locally and only granted registration after meeting strict Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
Indomie Nigeria also cautioned consumers to be wary of any noodle products bearing unfamiliar packaging or labelling, stressing that any such items should be treated with suspicion. “The importation of noodles into Nigeria is prohibited under Nigerian law,” the company noted, urging the public to rely on verified information from official sources.
NAFDAC advised consumers to discard the recalled product if encountered and report any suspected sale or distribution to the nearest NAFDAC office or through its toll-free line. Adverse reactions linked to food products, the agency added, should be reported via its official e-reporting platforms.
Both NAFDAC and Indomie Nigeria reiterated their commitment to consumer safety, urging calm and responsible information sharing as authorities continue to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s food supply.
