The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has launched a Pre-Enrolment Portal to streamline the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC.
According to the Commission, the portal allows applicants in Nigeria and the diaspora to capture and submit their biodata online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.

The initiative is intended to reduce congestion and waiting time at enrolment centres nationwide.
NIMC said the introduction of the platform is part of its strategy to deploy technology to improve institutional performance and public service delivery.
It aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on digital transformation, efficiency in governance, and inclusive development.
The Commission said the portal enables online biodata capture, appointment scheduling, improved data accuracy, secure handling of personal information, and online upload of supporting documents.
These features are expected to improve enrolment efficiency and accuracy.
NIMC encouraged prospective NIN applicants to use the Pre-Enrolment Portal to facilitate a faster registration process and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital identity system.
Applicants can access the Pre-Enrolment Portal at penrol.nimc.gov.ng
