The Osun State Chapter of the Accord Party has rejected a purported governorship primary conducted by a faction of the party, describing it as illegal and a political mischief.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Babalola Akande, State chairman of Accord, said the individuals involved, Clement Bamigbola and one Mr Fanibe, are not recognised members of the Accord.
He noted that Fanibe had been expelled from the party in 2018 for fraud and other acts undermining party unity and discipline, and therefore had no authority to convene or participate in any party activity.

The chairman alleged that the factional primary was being driven by politically-displaced actors, some with links to the APC, in a bid to undermine the lawful candidacy of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
He stated that “Governor Adeleke is the duly nominated and lawful governorship candidate of the Accord in Osun State. His nomination is indisputable, having emerged through due process in accordance with the party constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and judicial precedents.”
He warned that any primary conducted outside the officially recognised party structures is illegal, null, and void.
Akande, however, criticised the Osun State Police Command for allegedly ignoring a notice sent to security agencies while reportedly deploying officers to the factional gathering.

He added that the party would take legal action against anyone impersonating Accord candidates, including reporting them to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC).
A faction of the party had on Sunday produced Clement Bamigbola as its governorship candidate for the 2026 election in the State.
The faction had rejected the emergence of Adeleke as sole aspirant, insisting that Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem–led national executive of the party is not legally backed.
