…Says education must be holistic
Ayoola Akinyeye, the director of Schools at Chrisland, has called on Nigerians to show love and kindness to others as the world celebrates Christmas.
“The gift of love is God Almighty sending his son as a gift for the redemption of mankind,” Akinyeye said during the 2025 variety night and joint Christmas concert of Chrisland Schools in Lagos.
Themed, ‘The Gift of Love,’ Akinyeye said that love is one of the core values at Chrisland. According to her, the school teaches the children to show love, and to be kind to others.
According to her, giving and helping others is one of the cardinal things the school teaches students. She added that giving helps to improve both the mental health and personal well-being of the children.
“The season itself is a season of love, regardless of your religious background,” Akinyeye said, adding that Chrisland prides itself in providing a holistic education. According to her, education in the classroom is never complete without education outside the classroom.
“So the dance, the drama, the public speaking, the ability to stand on stage and speak confidently to a crowd is part of what we teach them,” she said.
According to her, the ability to be confident enough to address an audience on stage is an integral part of the education Chrisland offers. “I think it affords them the opportunity to reflect on how privileged they are and deepen their sense of gratitude to the investments their parents are making on their behalf.”
Kehinde Aluko, member, advisory board, Chrisland Schools, said the beauty of the convert is that it allows the children to express themselves in the best way that they can.
According to her, the focus is not only on the innate ability of the children; rather it creates a platform for parents and school to support the children.
“I think that would be an added benefit if these children were spotted and noted for their talents. Beyond that, it’s just the fact that the children have come together to enjoy themselves, to exhibit the skills and talent they have acquired over the years, and to entertain their parents,” Aluko said.
