Governor Mai Mala Buni’s Healthcare Initiatives have received further recognition as Yobe secures national and North-East Primary Healthcare Leadership Awards
Under the stewardship of Governor Mai Mala Buni, Yobe State has been honoured with both national and north-eastern awards from the National Primary Healthcare Leadership Fund 2025, in recognition of the significant investments made by the Buni administration in primary healthcare and the overall healthcare sector.

The state was awarded a cash prize of USD 700,000 for the national accolade, in addition to USD 500,000 for the regional award.
The National Primary Healthcare Leadership Fund was established in response to the 2019 Seattle Agreement, in which governors across the nation pledged to allocate resources and efforts to enhance primary healthcare in their respective states.

The states are then evaluated and rated annually based on their performance.
Yobe’s achievement as both the national winner and the recipient of the North-East Zonal Award underscores Governor Buni’s dedication to ensuring that all residents, regardless of their location within the state, have access to quality healthcare services.
