MTN’s MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB) has entered a strategic partnership with Thunes, a global cross-border payments platform, to enable instant receipt of international funds for Nigerian users.
With a customer base of approximately 2.7 million, MoMo PSB stated that the integration will provide real-time access to international inflows, supporting everyday transactions such as airtime purchases, bill payments, peer-to-peer transfers, and digital commerce.

The partnership broadens MoMo’s remittance corridor to major markets including the US, UK, Canada, France, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and South Africa.
“This partnership enables Nigerians to receive international transfers instantly, securely and with greater convenience.It broadens access to the global economy, empowering users to better manage their finances while opening a rapidly expanding market to our network members,” Aik Boon Tan, chief network officer at Thunes, said.
MoMo PSB, now integrated into Thunes’ Direct Global Network, offers a wide suite of digital financial services spanning payments, e-commerce, insurance, and remittances.
Backed by Nigeria’s largest mobile network operator, the company delivers convenient, secure, and scalable financial solutions to millions of Nigerians, reinforcing its position as a key player in the country’s rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem.
Thunes’ Direct Global Network links members to local wallets, neobanks, and financial institutions worldwide, enabling real-time transfers across more than 130 countries and over 80 currencies.
The partnership enables MoMo PSB users to receive remittances securely and promptly, while enhancing Thunes’ role in channeling global inflows into Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
World Bank data shows that remittance inflows into Nigeria grew by 9 percent in 2024, reaching $20.9 billion.
