In the wake of the recent outcry of security breaches and kidnappings in the country, the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), on Tuesday, said it has fully commenced the enhancement of patrols of all boarding schools across all 18 local government areas of the state.
Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, who disclosed this in Akure, while parading 16 suspects for alleged involvement in crimes, said, “in the last week, we’ve visited so many of the schools; we’ve mounted surveillance on all those schools with boarding facilities, especially the ones in the border towns of the state and the outskirts of the towns.”
Adeleye also said that the Corps has equally stepped up the activities of 24/7 ember month patrol at the borders of Ondo State to ensure protection of lives and property.
“I want to reassure residents of the state that their safety of lives and property in Ondo State is guaranteed,” he said.
The Amotekun boss, who spoke on the 16 people who were arrested under the ‘Operation Le Won Jade’ of the Corps, said, “these 16 suspects comprise 10 that broke law and order, 3 for kidnapping and 3 for anti-grazing penalties.
“The Operation Le Won Jade that we embarked on across the 18 Local Governments of Ondo State has really assisted in driving away miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers from our forests, and this exercise is still ongoing.
“In addition, our regular 24/7 patrol within the metropolis is still ongoing, and this has also yielded tremendous results. The total number of arrests in the last week is 34. Out of the 34, we are parading 16.

“We have a group here that specialises in vandalising government properties. They bring heavy welding equipment and cut them to size and sell. We equally have 3 suspected kidnappers who were arrested in the course of carrying out such nefarious activities.
“There is an Abubakar arrested in Ogbese, a 24-year-old boy, for anti-grazing. We have Usman arrested for stealing a drilling machine. We have Olamiju, 35, arrested as a suspected kidnapper. Udofia and Miracle for the same offence in the Agbaje camp at Ala-dada, in Akure North
“We equally have Ibuba arrested for anti-grazing activities. We have a Uche who specialises in defrauding POS people. We have a Samson, 32, who was arrested for stealing farm products. We have a Tosin that was arrested in connection with robbery and attempted murder.
“We have Abiola, 25, arrested for attempted murder. We have a Samuel arrested for armed robbery. We have a Sunday, 28, arrested for stealing a phone in conjunction with Tope, who is 25 years old and a 29-year-old Dayo. We equally have a Mohamed that was arrested for anti-grazing activities and a Subuloye that was arrested for vandalising government assets.
“The beauty of today’s parade is that there is a sharp decline in criminal activities in the state, which shows that the anti-open-grazing law is being adhered to. It only shows that they have seen the success of Operation Le Won Jade. So, even before operatives of Amotekun got into the forestry reserves, we observed that they had been moving out gradually from the forestry reserve.
“We want to thank the Olus and Bales in the forest for giving us timely information because several activities would have resulted in calamities, but for the timely information which we acted upon and this has resulted in the success we recorded.”
