The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Ufoma Immanuel, managing director and chief executive of Chappal Energies, wanted for alleged fraud.
In a public notice issued Wednesday, the agency said Immanuel is being sought in connection with a case of obtaining money by false pretence and forgery.
“The public is hereby notified that UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL… is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence and forgery,” the statement read.

The EFCC described Immanuel, 46, as an indigene of Edo State. His last known address, according to the notice, is 77 Nelson Mandela Street, Maitama, Abuja. The commission urged anyone with credible information to contact its offices nationwide or reach investigators through its hotline or email.
Immanuel was appointed managing director of Chappal Petroleum Development Company in January 2021. The firm, which describes itself as an ESG-focused, energy-independent operator, seeks to unlock value from distressed brownfield upstream assets in the Niger Delta.
A founding partner of Chappal, Immanuel previously served as head of corporate finance and strategy at Eroton Exploration and Production.
In September, an $860 million acquisition deal in which TotalEnergies planned to divest certain assets to Chappal Energies collapsed after Chappal failed to meet key financial obligations.
