Taiwo Akinola, the presiding bishop of Rhema Christian Church & Towers, have disclosed that Nigeria will not experience holistic development until Christians take up the task of leadership, saying “Society will remain tasteless if Christians don’t rise to their task.”
Akinola made this known during the closing ceremony of the 34th Rhema World convention, held recently at the church headquarters in Sango-Otta, Ogun State. Themed, ‘God of all possibility,’ the cleric said that it is by Heaven’s choice that believers are the light of the world.
According to him, Nigerian Christians must live right and in accordance with the Biblical teachings that place believers as the light of a dark world. “We must live in accordance with that particular pattern. Without salt, things will be tasteless. No matter the condiment, whatever you put in a soup, if salt is not there, it will be tasteless.

“And is it funny that that is one of the identities that we are permitted to share with Christ? Jesus said, I am the light of the world. And He said, you are also the light of the world. And so, Christians must live right to that tune,” Akinola said.
The cleric also urged Christians to speak truth to power in line with their societal standing as the light of the world. “Darkness continues to rule and gain ascendancy because light has not spoken up. We are speaking up. We are speaking truth to power.”
Akinola also called on Christians to be upright in all their dealings in alignment with God’s word to enjoy divine intervention. According to him, parents have a bigger responsibility to train their children in the ways of godliness.
“We must sort of model God to them. We must train our children in the way they should go. I’ve seen people shouting at schools and shouting at the government and so on. Parents have responsibilities to train their children in the ways of godliness,” Akinola said.
