A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the trial of dismissed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officer Polycarp Andrew to December 11, 2025.
Andrew, a former exhibit keeper at the EFCC’s Kaduna zonal office, is facing a six-count charge of criminal breach of trust for allegedly stealing exhibits worth more than N22 million. He was arraigned on May 5 and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
At Wednesday’s hearing, EFCC counsel H.M. Mohammed said the prosecution was ready to present two witnesses—an EFCC officer and an Opay staff member.

However, defence counsel D.B. Kwajafa requested more time to prepare, saying he had just received a flash drive containing a video recording of Andrew’s extra-judicial statement and needed to review it. Mohammed opposed the request, arguing the video was not relevant at this stage of the proceedings.
After hearing both sides, Justice A. Bello adjourned the case to December 11 for trial to begin.
Andrew allegedly fled to Taraba State after diverting funds kept in his custody while serving as an exhibit keeper. The charge sheet accuses him of misappropriating $11,900 (about N10.9 million), $3,800 (about N5.9 million), and $2,800 (about N3.8 million) between 2023 and 2024.
The alleged offences violate Section 300 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
