Laurent Favier, the Consul General of France in Lagos, has reaffirmed the commitment of the French government to strengthen bilateral relations with Nigeria in deepening the 40 years business ties between both countries.
“The French government remains firmly committed to strengthening this partnership between our two nations,” Favier said during the French week 2025 and 40th anniversary celebration of the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) press conference, held recently in Lagos.
According to him, the French government will continue to invest in initiatives that promote sustainable development, technology transfer, and economic growth, thereby creating jobs and fostering inclusive prosperity.
“The forthcoming French week 2025 also creates a platform to further solidify the relationships between both countries with a line-up of high-impact events from the 7th of November, as we continue to build an even stronger France-Nigeria partnership for the future,” Favier said.
According to him, Nigeria has a significant trade relationship with France as the fourth-largest in Africa, accounting for about 20 percent of France’s trade in sub-Saharan Africa.
Guillaume Niarfeix, President, Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the celebration will help the chamber to explore new avenues for growth. According to him, the 40th anniversary celebration reaffirms the joint commitment to the future.
“As we celebrate 40 years of building bridges between France and Nigeria, we also look forward to the next 40 with optimism, collaboration, and the shared ambition to continue driving progress and prosperity for both nations,” Niarfeix said.
