Idi Abbas, Chief of the Naval Staff, has approved the appointment and redeployment of 65 Rear Admirals to key positions across the Nigerian Navy, Defence Headquarters, and other Armed Forces institutions.
A statement issued on Monday by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, director of Information, said the postings affect officers at the Naval Headquarters, Defence Headquarters, Tri-Service Institutions, Naval Commands, naval subsidiaries, and affiliated commercial entities.
Among the redeployments, Suleiman Abdullahi has moved from the Defence Headquarters to Naval Headquarters as Chief of Logistics. Kasim Bushi now serves as Executive Director of the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria, having been redeployed from the Naval Training Command. Suleiman Dahun has been appointed Director of Defence Cooperation at the Defence Headquarters.
Other key appointments include Anenechukwu Ezenma as Director, Lessons Learnt at Defence Headquarters, and Samuel Ngatuwa as Director of Project Management. Ibrahim Shehu retains his position as Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard Limited.
The statement further highlighted the following significant postings: Abdullahi Ahmed, formerly at Naval Headquarters, is now Commandant of the National Defence College; Musa Katagum, formerly at Defence Headquarters, is now Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters; Fredrick Damtong becomes Chief of Naval Engineering; and Abdul-Rasheed Haruna is appointed Chief of Training at Naval Headquarters.
Other appointments include Hamza Ibrahim as Group Managing Director of Navy Holdings Limited, Sunday Oyegade as Director of Logistics at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Gideon Kachim as Chief of Defence Administration, Saburi Lawal reappointed as Executive Director of Business Development and Evaluation at Navy Holdings Limited, and Jonathan Mamman as Chief of Administration at Naval Headquarters.
At the Defence Headquarters, Kehinde Odubanjo becomes Director General of the Defence Research and Development Bureau, John Okeke is appointed Chief of Defence Civil-Military Cooperation, and Abolade Ogunleye takes over as Chief of Defence Training.
The redeployments also extend to naval subsidiaries and commercial entities as Peter Zakaria is appointed Executive Director of Administration and Human Resources at Navy Holdings Limited, while Olufemi Adeleke becomes Director of Cyber Security at the Defence Space Agency. Abiodun Alade assumes the role of Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command, and Pakiribo Anabraba is now Chief of Naval Safety and Standard. Rear Admiral Emmanuel Anakwe proceeds to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies as Moderator, and Abdul-Hamid Baba-Inna becomes Navy Secretary.

Command positions within the naval commands include Abubakar Mustapha as Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Chidozie Okehie as Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, and Suleiman Ibrahim as Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command. Additionally, Musiu Yussuff is appointed Director of Marine Engineering, Kolawole Oguntuga becomes Director of Manning at Naval Headquarters, and Mohammed Muye assumes duties as Commandant of the Naval War College.
The move comes shortly after Abbas assumed office as the 23rd indigenous Chief of the Naval Staff last Thursday.
The statement confirmed that all postings take immediate effect.
