Usman Ododo, Kogi State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ekiti Governorship Primary Election Committee, has assured that the party will build on the legacy of unity and innovation demonstrated during the recently concluded primary election in Ekiti State.
Ododo, who spoke with journalists in Abuja after submitting the committee’s report to the party’s leadership, said the smooth and peaceful conduct of the exercise reflected the sincerity and reform-minded leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC national chairman.
According to him, the adoption of a consensus mode of primary election in Ekiti has set a new standard in Nigeria’s political process, eliminating rancour, litigation, and wastage of resources.
“In the history of this country, it has never happened before now. But with Mr. President’s love and innovation, history has been made in Ekiti State.
“For the first time under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC has laid this template of a consensus mode of primary election,” Ododo said.
He added that the new model has saved Ekiti State enormous resources that would otherwise have been spent on political campaigns and disputes, saying it would allow more funds to be channeled into development.
“Ekiti has saved a lot of resources for development, and I know the party will build on this legacy,” he stated.
The Kogi governor also commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and commitment to national progress, describing him as a “loving father” who leads with sincerity and purpose.
“We cannot thank him enough. We will continue to pray for him and assure him that we, the children, are with him, working to carry his mantra of peace and leadership to the grassroots,” he said.
Ododo further praised the APC National Chairman, Yilwatda, for providing a level playing field and introducing innovations that have strengthened internal democracy within the party.
“He has brought innovation to our party and laid a foundation that other political parties will soon copy so that the country can continue to move forward,” Ododo added.
