… assures PDP will reclaim Rivers
Nname Robinson Ewor, one of the claimants to the chairmanship position of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, has urged citizens to “give Governor Siminalayi Fubara time over whether he is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or not.”
Speculations have been rife in Rivers State that one of the conditions given to the governor, as part of the peace measures leading to the lifting of the State of Emergency, was his eventual defection to the APC from the People’s Democratic Party.
Despite speculation, Governor Fubara, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders in the state have not made any statement suggesting the governor’s likely defection.

Ewor, who claims to be chairman of the state chapter of the PDP, urged the various interest groups and organizations seeking a decision on his likely defection, to “give the governor a break in view of what he (Fubara) had gone through in the last eight months.”
Ewor, in a chat with newsmen on September 23, 2025, pleaded that Governor Fubara should be allowed to take stock over several issues, before he is confronted with the issue of defection to another party or whether he would remain in PDP.
He said Fubara remains a PDP member, despite pressure on him from different quarters to decamp and embrace the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is the party of Mr. President, so as to get some national attention and political protection.
Ewor claimed that “certain things went so wrong during the last local government council elections,” but assured that the PDP would reclaim all the lost council seats in subsequent well-organized elections.
He stressed that, “From 1999, no other political party has defeated PDP in any election in Rivers State,” adding that the party is “slowly but steadily being revitalized in all the local government and wards in the state.”
He, therefore, reassured the people of the state that the reinstated governor would not disappoint Rivers people, seeing how well-loved he is, as amply demonstrated by Rivers people when he returned to Government House on Friday, September 19, 2025.
