Lamine Yamal marked his return from injury by playing a decisive role as Barcelona battled back to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 on Sunday, moving one point clear at the top of La Liga.
After Real Madrid’s 5-2 derby humiliation against Atletico on Saturday, Hansi Flick’s side seized the chance to claim pole position. But they were forced to fight for it after Alvaro Odriozola put Real Sociedad ahead in the 31st minute.

Barcelona equalised before the break through Jules Kounde, who powered home a header from a Marcus Rashford corner. The England forward, on loan from Manchester United, was lively throughout and came close to scoring, only to be denied by goalkeeper Alex Remiro.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Yamal, back after missing four games with a groin problem, came off the bench. Within minutes, he weaved into space and delivered a perfectly timed pass for Robert Lewandowski, who slotted in the winner.
“I’m very happy for Lamine, very pleased that he’s back on the pitch because we’re going to need him,” said Kounde. Coach Hansi Flick added: “He showed the outstanding strength he has to create chances and give that last pass.”
The match, staged at Barcelona’s temporary Olympic Stadium home after the city council blocked a return to Camp Nou, also saw debuts for 17-year-old Dro Fernandez and Swedish winger Roony Bardghji, while veteran Wojciech Szczesny deputised in goal for the injured Joan Garcia.
The victory keeps Barcelona’s unbeaten start intact and sends them above Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid, underlining Flick’s intent to reclaim the league crown.
