….Over 2,000 PDP delegates in Adamawa endorse new state leadership at 2025 congress
Over 2,000 delegates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State converged on Saturday at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola for the party’s 2025 State Congress, where they unanimously endorsed Hamza Bello Madagali as the new State Chairman, alongside 38 other executive committee members.
The congress was presided over by Dave Iorhemba, Chairman of the Adamawa State Congress Committee, and was conducted under the supervision of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), national representatives of the PDP, and various security agencies to ensure a transparent and orderly process.
In his welcome address, Tahir Shehu, the outgoing State Chairman, reminded attendees that his tenure would officially end on October 6, 2025, marking the conclusion of eight years in office. He called on party members to extend their full support to the new executive leadership to further strengthen the party’s unity and growth.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in his remarks, commended the peaceful and well-organised conduct of the congress, describing it as a testament to the party’s commitment to democratic values and the state government’s record of good governance.
“The delegates have come to demonstrate their confidence in electing new leaders who will guide our party for the next four years. We trust their capabilities and believe they will lead us effectively. We are preparing for 2027 and, Insha Allah, we will get there. Power belongs to God, but we are ready,” the Governor stated.
In his vote of thanks, the newly elected State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello, expressed profound gratitude to the delegates for their trust and support. He also thanked Governor Fintiri for his continued guidance and leadership.
“The PDP will remain a united and formidable political family. We are committed to strengthening our structures and ensuring that every member is carried along. We are proud of Governor Fintiri’s transformational leadership and deeply appreciate the stable and solid foundation laid by our outgoing chairman, Tahir Shehu,” he said.
