In simple terms, a burger is a dish consisting of a flat, round cake of minced beef, fish or another savoury ingredient, that is fried or grilled and served in a split bun or roll with various condiments and toppings. Amongst the most popular ones in the global market are Double Cheeseburger by Bleecker St Burger and Smokey Robinson by Patty & Bun. Others include ShackBurger by Shake Shack, Double Candy Bacon Flipper by Mother Flipper, Classic Cheeseburger by Burger Bear and the Double-Double Animal Style by In-N-Out.
But here in Nigeria the most savoured ones include Ninahh, Eatalian @BBQ, French@ South, Dagwood Burger, Double Prime and Crispy Chicken. Entering the market at Covenant University with the aim to revolutionalize the burger space is Portorio burger. It has come of course, from

Thank you for coming to Covenant University and Olamide Ayodele like an insatiable customer said: “Your burgers are the best! Can I get 1 burger with extra cheese? Thank you for the quality and taste. Not left out, one Funke Oloyede also a student confessed: “I almost skipped lectures twice last week just for Potorio Burger. It’s that addictive. I bring friends, they never believe it’s from a ‘stall’ until they taste it. Now they’re addicts too”!
The lessons in all of these testimonials have to do with the importance of being creative, distinguishing one’s products and services with uniqueness, innovation, accessibility and of course, making them affordable. That perhaps, explains why on Saturdays several of the students in that citadel of knowledge find their way to Chef Eze’s stall to have a taste of Potorio burger and like Oliver Twist asking for more.
Of interest also, is that over the past decade Chef Eze has gone ahead to expand his culinary business ventures into event planning and provision of services, prompt delivery of several delicacies to the satisfaction of his fat expanding customers, especially in Lagos and Ogun states.
He is open to collaboration with like minds. That underscores his being an active member of the Food for Health and Wealth Network on WhatsApp platform. Through this he has been actively promoting and projecting what he has to offer while learning from his colleagues and gaining knowledge on both the health and nutritional benefits of the sundry food items we consume on daily basis. And he goes ahead to inform the customers that beyond the tempting flavours and teasing texture of the burger and other products he serves the presence of carbohydrates, protein, magical minerals and vital vitamins provide a balanced diet for their well-being.
His plan for the future is to go national with branches across different parts of the country, in campuses, supermarkets as well as making the presence of his company felt at various events.
