The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralised more than 25 terrorists in a coordinated night air operation targeting insurgent hideouts in the Bula area of Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State.
The operation, carried out on September 18, followed actionable intelligence provided by ground troops, according to a statement released Saturday in Abuja by Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information.
NAF said a well-coordinated force package involving Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and strike aircraft tracked terrorist movements and identified multiple clusters of fighters north of Banki.
“Real-time updates were relayed to ground forces and base operations, enabling synchronised action across units.
“The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters.
“Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces remained in defensive positions, with no further threats observed”, the statement disclosed.
It added that the operation demonstrated NAF’s decisive support to ground troops, denial of freedom of movement for insurgents, and its unwavering commitment to securing Nigeria’s North-East against terror threats.
