…Recover arms
In renewed onslaught against crime in the state, the Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, and drug peddlers in separate sting operations across the State.
In a statement by Bright Edafe, police public relations officer (PPRO) disclosed that, “In Ogwashi-Uku, a joint patrol led by Israel Okomoyon, CSP and the divisional police officer, alongside local vigilantes, intercepted three young men on a motorcycle on September 17, 2025.
“A search conducted on the suspects, identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe (25), Victor Chibuzor (25), and Zakaria Joro (25), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku, led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition.
“The suspects, who could not provide any reasonable explanation for having the firearm, have since been handed over to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.
Similarly, on September 13, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Yunusa, in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service, stormed a hotel along the Asaba/Benin Expressway, Agbor, following credible intelligence, he disclosed.
He explained that 10 adult suspects, including the hotel owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor, were arrested, and a substantial quantity of illicit drugs was recovered during the raid. Investigations are ongoing to expose the full scale of their activities.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, while commending the operatives for their gallantry, assured residents that the Command remains committed to tackling crime through intelligence-led operations, community collaboration, and swift response strategies.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that would aid the police in keeping the state safe,” the statement concluded.
