Wemy Industries Ltd., the Nigerian maker of Dr. Brown’s and Nightingale hygiene products, is looking to accelerate its export drive after making a global debut at the Intra-Africa Trade Fair (IATF) 2025 in Algiers.
The company, which has built a strong foothold in Nigeria’s healthcare and hygiene sector, used the event to court distributors, policymakers, and investors from across Africa and beyond. Its executives say the fair provides a cost-effective entry point for reaching multiple markets at once as Wemy seeks to position its brands in new territories.
“For any business interested in exporting to other African countries, the IATF is a must-attend,” Chief Executive Officer Paul Odunaiya said in a statement. “It’s one of the biggest events we’ve ever participated in, and it’s very impactful. We’re eager to build on this momentum and expand our reach to improve lives across Africa.”
Organized by Afreximbank in partnership with the African Union, the trade fair drew representation from countries including Ghana, Ethiopia, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Italy. Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Nigeria’s former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeria’s trade and finance minister, were among the dignitaries at the opening ceremony.

“Participating at IATF 2025 marks a defining moment for Wemy Industries as we proudly showcase our African innovations on an international platform,” said Doris Sulieman, the company’s head of communications.
The Lagos-based manufacturer said its delegation, led by Odunaiya alongside senior sales and export executives, engaged with prospective partners to lay the groundwork for regional distribution networks.
The move is part of a broader strategy to tap rising demand for affordable hygiene and personal-care products across Africa, where rapid population growth is fueling consumer spending.
Wemy will get another opportunity to deepen its export ambitions when the next edition of IATF takes place in Lagos in 2027 — a “homecoming” that Odunaiya said will help the company showcase its capabilities on its own turf while hosting global stakeholders.
