Hudu Hassan Barau, the abducted ward head of Shuwaka (Sarkin Shuwaka), Kyaram District in Garga community of Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State, has been found dead six days after he was kidnapped by suspected bandits.
His lifeless body was recovered from a bush on Monday morning, according to a statement released by Garba Aliyu and Shehu Kanam, chairman and Secretary of the Kanam Development Association, respectively and made available to journalists on Monday in Jos.

“We are consumed by grief and outrage as we received the tragic news of the death of one of our community leaders. We are still grappling with the shock and pain of this senseless killing and the continued bandit attacks across the communities in the Garga area”.
The association described the murder as a devastating loss to the people of Kanam and a reminder of the worsening security crisis in rural parts of Plateau State.

They called on the Federal Government, security agencies, and the Plateau State Government to take urgent and decisive action to curb the rising wave of insecurity across the council.
The association lamented that the area has witnessed repeated attacks and abductions in recent months, with little to no visible security intervention.
