The Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has flagged off the rehabilitation of electricity in the Nde community, Ikom Local Government Area.

The project is part of his administration’s effort to restore and stabilise power supply in rural communities, thereby improving living standards and boosting socio-economic activities across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor at the ceremony, the Director General of the State Electrification Agency, Francis Ekpo, urged the people of Nde to take ownership of the project. He cautioned that the government’s huge investment in infrastructure would amount to waste if vandalism and sabotage continued, appealing to youths and elders to safeguard facilities within their community.

Francis Ekpo reaffirmed the Governor’s commitment to the People First agenda, stressing that the present administration is determined to improve the welfare of citizens by ensuring equitable access to basic amenities, including electricity.

In his remarks, the Clan Head of Nde, HRH (Engr.) Bassey Nas, alongside the Councillor representing the ward, pledged that no government property in the community would be vandalised again. He assured that the people are ready to collaborate with the state government to guarantee the success of the project.
