Environ, a trusted provider of secure identity solutions for over 15 years and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)-approved Nigeria provider of Finger Vein recognition and exclusive regional partner of Hitachi, has announced the launch of the Fraud Prevention Readiness Consortium (FPRC).
The consortium brings together leading Nigerian banks, FinTechs and Telcos to jointly test and validate Environ Hitachi’s finger vein authentication subscription platform, a proven solution already deployed globally to combat financial fraud and identity theft.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is in tandem with the proof-of-life non-spoof advanced fraud prevention control, and the FPRC is designed to provide banks with a cost-effective, collaborative path to compliance.
By sharing the cost of a single pilot trial, participating banks will demonstrate readiness to meet any potential regulatory requirements;
access transparent results validated across multiple institutions, and evaluate a solution that offers proof-of-life, unmatched accuracy, and greater reliability than pins, tokens and fingerprint systems in African conditions.
Chike Meme, CEO of Environ, said: “Finger vein authentication is a breakthrough technology that provides banks and telcos with both security and customer convenience.
“By creating this consortium, we are making it easier for Nigerian companies to take the next step in fraud and identity theft prevention while reducing cost and risk. This initiative aligns the entire sector with global best practices.”
According to Meme, the Fraud Prevention Readiness Consortium will run over the last quarter of 2025, with results shared among all participants.
The CEO added that the outcome will enable banks to make informed decisions on adopting finger vein technology at scale.
“Environ is now inviting top Nigerian banks and telcos to register their interest in joining the consortium,” Meme said.
