Benedict Adegboyega Alabi, former Deputy Governor of Osun State, declares his political structure remains intact as he joins the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2026 election.
At a media parley in his Osogbo residence, Alabi, a former deputy governor to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola between 2018 and 2022, says that he is not depending on anyone’s influence or structure to achieve his ambition.
“I built my structure, I nurtured my structure, and I’m still keeping my structure. I am not relying on anybody’s structure. I see myself more as a unifier because election is a collective responsibility,” he said.
He recalled his consistent involvement in the governorship race since 2016, which later earned him the position of deputy governor, saying the experience had prepared him for leadership.
“I had contested election, I had lost election, I have seen it all. It shows I am a man of myself and a man who knows what he wants to do,” he said.
The Ikire-born politician also underscored the importance of continuity in governance, praising his former boss, Oyetola for laying a stable foundation before leaving office.
He said his blueprint from 2018, especially on internally- generated revenue, remained relevant to Osun’s development.
Alabi lamented the poor state of education in Osun, noting that the dismissal of 1,500 teachers employed by the last administration without immediate replacement had created a three years gap.
“I see myself as that bridge builder and unifier of our people. My exposure, education, and experience, including my time as acting governor, have prepared me to deliver Osun,” he stated.
