Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster believes the pressure is on Nigeria as South Africa gear up for their crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Free State Stadium on Tuesday night.
South Africa leads Group C with 16 points after seven matches, while Nigeria sit third with 10 points, behind second-placed Benin.
Foster insists Bafana are where they want to be and that it is up to Nigeria, Rwanda, and others to close the gap.

“I don’t necessarily think there’s pressure on us,” said Foster.
“I think at the moment we are where we wanted to be in the group, and that’s a positive. The pressure is on the guys who are trying to get to us, but that doesn’t mean we should take our foot off the pedal.”
The Burnley forward stressed the importance of maintaining focus and humility as they look to consolidate their position at the top.
“We should just keep the same mentality, take it game by game and stay humble. We had a good start, but the most important thing is to push forward and make sure we seal it,” he added.
Both teams come into the clash on the back of wins — South Africa swept aside Lesotho 3-0, while Nigeria laboured to a narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo.
