She also speaks on how she hopes to be remembered as she celebrates her 50th birthday.
As you celebrate your 50th birthday, what does legacy mean to you, and how do you hope to be remembered in the HR industry?
At 50, legacy to me is about building impact that outlives the individual. I want to be seen as a pioneer who redefined how talent is discovered, developed, and connected to opportunity in Africa. Through U-Connect and Gr8jobsng, we have empowered thousands with jobs and raised the standard of HR by embracing innovation and technology. Above all, my legacy is about people, mentoring women, empowering youth, and proving that with resilience and integrity, Africa can build world-class institutions.
Looking back on your journey, what are some of the most significant milestones and achievements that you’re proud of, and how do you think they’ve contributed to your legacy?
Looking back, I am most proud of the creation of U-Connect and watching it grow into a Company that has placed over 20,500 people in meaningful jobs, as well as launching Gr8jobsng, Africa’s first digital recruitment platform, which proved that technology can transform how talent connects with opportunity. Equally fulfilling has been our youth empowerment initiatives, through which thousands of young Nigerians have been trained and mentored to become more employable and confident. Along the way, recognitions such as the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Legal and Logistics, Certificate of Excellence by Michael Porter of the Harvard Business school and all World Network, Peak Performing Woman of the Year Award and my membership of the Forbes Business Council as well as members of the American Business Council (ABC) have affirmed that our work resonates beyond Nigeria. Together, these milestones have shaped a legacy built on innovation, resilience, and people-first leadership, one that I hope continues to open doors for the next generation.
How do you think your experiences and accomplishments over the past 50 years can serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for others, particularly young entrepreneurs and professionals in Africa?
I believe my journey shows that resilience, vision, and integrity are powerful tools for building lasting impact. Starting U-Connect and later launching Gr8jobsng were not without challenges, but they proved that with persistence and innovation, we can create solutions that transform industries. For young Entrepreneurs and Professionals, I want my story to serve as proof that Africa has the talent and capacity to build world-class institutions if we dare to dream big and put in the work. My hope is that they see in my journey the importance of faith in God, consistency, hard-work, continuous learning, and a people-first approach, because true success is measured by the lives you touch and the opportunities you create for others.
What do you believe is the key to building a lasting impact in the HR industry, and how have you incorporated this into your work with U-Connect and Gr8jobsng?
For me, the key to building lasting impact in the HR industry is a combination of innovation, integrity, and a genuine commitment to people. HR is not just about filling roles, it is about creating sustainable systems that help individuals thrive while enabling businesses to grow. At U-Connect, we have focused on raising industry standards through structured processes, quality management systems, and large-scale talent placement that has touched thousands of lives. With Gr8jobsng, I wanted to push the boundaries further by leveraging technology to make recruitment more accessible, transparent, and effective across Africa. By constantly aligning our work with global best practices while keeping people at the center, we are not only solving today’s HR challenges but also building platforms that will serve the next generation.
Can you share some examples of how your work has made a positive difference in the lives of individuals, organizations, or communities, and how you hope to continue making a difference in the future?
The most rewarding part of my work has always been the stories of transformation. I’ve met graduates who, through our training programs, moved from long periods of unemployment to building thriving careers, and women who found the confidence to step into leadership roles after mentorship. Companies that partnered with U-Connect have also experienced improved structures and talent pipelines that directly influenced their growth. With Gr8jobsng, we’ve made recruitment more inclusive by connecting opportunities to people who might never have had access otherwise. In the future, I want to continue scaling this impact, using technology, strategic partnerships, and mentoring to reach even more communities and ensure that the next generation of Africans are better positioned to succeed.
How do you think your legacy can continue to inspire and empower future generations of entrepreneurs and professionals in Africa?
I believe my legacy will inspire future generations by showing that it is possible to build globally competitive institutions from Africa, rooted in resilience, innovation, and integrity. If my journey proves anything, it is that challenges can become stepping stones when you stay focused on solutions and people. I want young entrepreneurs and professionals to see that creating value, empowering others, and leading with purpose are the true measures of success. My hope is that the structures we have built through U-Connect and Gr8jobsng will continue to open doors, while my story serves as a reminder that Africa’s future lies in the boldness of its people to dream big and act with courage.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career, and how do you think they can be applied to help others achieve their goals?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that resilience is the backbone of any meaningful journey, setbacks will come, but how you respond to them determines your growth. I’ve also learned that integrity and consistency build trust, and in business, trust is as valuable as capital. Another lesson is the power of continuous learning, staying curious and adaptable has allowed me to embrace innovation, from traditional HR practices to building digital platforms like Gr8jobsng. For others, especially young professionals and entrepreneurs, these lessons show that success is not just about talent, but about perseverance, values, and the willingness to evolve. If you keep people at the center of what you do, your work will naturally create impact.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs and professionals who are just starting out in their careers, and how can they apply the principles of legacy-building to their own work?
My advice to young entrepreneurs and professionals is to start with purpose, know why you are doing what you do, because clarity of purpose will keep you grounded when challenges arise. Be resilient, be willing to learn, and never compromise on integrity, because these values will outlast quick wins. In terms of legacy-building, I believe it begins with small, consistent actions, every job you do, every relationship you build, every problem you solve contributes to how you will be remembered. Focus on creating value, empowering others, and building systems that can thrive without you. If you approach your career with this mindset, your work will naturally grow into a legacy that inspires others.
How do you think individuals and organizations can work together to create a more sustainable and equitable future, and what role do you see U-Connect and Gr8jobsng playing in this effort?
I believe sustainability and equity are built when individuals and organizations recognize that their success is interconnected. Businesses thrive when people are empowered, and communities grow stronger when organizations commit to fairness, inclusion, and long-term value creation. At U-Connect, our focus has been on building structures that not only meet employers’ needs but also prioritize the growth and well-being of employees. With Gr8jobsng, we are leveraging technology to make opportunities more accessible, bridging gaps that often leave talented individuals excluded. Going forward, our role will be to continue championing inclusive hiring, youth empowerment, and systems that balance profitability with social impact, because a truly sustainable future is one where no one is left behind.
As you look to the future, what are some of the key initiatives or projects that you’re excited to work on, and how do you see them contributing to your legacy?
Looking ahead, I am excited about expanding U-Connect into new markets beyond Nigeria, particularly Dubai, the UK, and the US, where we can replicate our proven models and showcase the strength of African HR solutions on a global stage. With Gr8jobsng, my focus is on deepening the use of technology to make recruitment even more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that no talent is overlooked due to geography or circumstance. I am also passionate about scaling our youth empowerment and mentorship programs, because investing in people will always remain at the core of my mission. These initiatives are not just projects, they are the next chapters of my legacy, designed to build stronger institutions, empower more lives, and contribute to shaping Africa’s future workforce.
In addition, I am exploring opportunities to diversify my business by establishing a new venture in another industry. My goal is not only to build a sustainable and profitable enterprise but also to create significant employment opportunities for people in Nigeria. I believe this will contribute to economic growth while empowering individuals and communities through job creation and skills development.”
How do you think the HR industry will evolve in the next 10–20 years, and what role do you see U-Connect and Gr8jobsng playing in shaping this future?
The HR industry is entering a period of rapid transformation, driven by technology, data, and changing workforce expectations. Over the next 10–20 years, I believe HR will become even more strategic, focusing less on transactional processes and more on talent analytics, employee experience, and building agile, future-ready organizations. Technology will play a central role, with AI, digital platforms, and automation reshaping how we recruit, train, and manage people. At U-Connect, our vision is to remain at the forefront of this shift by embedding innovation into our service delivery, while Gr8jobsng will continue to democratize access to opportunities through scalable, tech-driven solutions. Ultimately, our role is to help organizations adapt to the future of work while ensuring that individuals are empowered to thrive within it.
What message would you like to share with your peers, colleagues, and the next generation of leaders in the HR industry as you celebrate your 50th birthday and look to the future?
A: As I celebrate 50 and reflect on my journey, my message to peers, colleagues, and the next generation of leaders is simple: our work in HR goes beyond processes, it is about shaping lives, building institutions, and influencing the future of work in Africa. To my peers, I encourage us to keep raising the standards of our profession with innovation and integrity. To the next generation, I say be bold, stay curious, and never underestimate the power of peoplefirst leadership. The HR industry has the potential to drive Africa’s growth story, and together we can build structures that are not only sustainable but also inspiring for generations to come.
